The Tenth China International Semiconductor Lighting Forum, jointly organized by the National Semiconductor Lighting Engineering R&D and Industry Alliance and other research institutions in the industry, was held in Beijing. The domestic and foreign representatives attending the meeting discussed the hot issues of concern in the industry, including the current status of the LED lighting industry, the opportunities faced by OLED lighting, and LED industry chain policies and capital. Cao Jianlin, deputy minister of science and technology, Shunji Nakamura, inventor of Blu-ray, Deng Qingyun, father of OLED, and Wu Ling, chairman of the International Semiconductor Lighting Alliance and secretary general of the National Semiconductor Lighting Engineering R&D and Industry Alliance, attended the forum.


Government support is the driving force behind the development of LED


Since the birth of the world's first semiconductor light-emitting diode in the 1960s, LED lighting has been hailed as the third revolution in human lighting due to its long life, energy saving, rich colors, safety, and environmental protection. Countries around the world are accelerating the pace of replacing traditional lighting with LED lighting. The Chinese Ministry of Science and Technology launched the "semiconductor lighting project" in 2003 to solve the critical industrialization technology that was particularly needed in the special lighting market at that time, making this new industry a big step forward. .


In the following ten years, the “Eleventh Five-Year” National 863 Program “Semiconductor Lighting Project” major projects and the “Ten Cities and Ten Thousand Lamps” demonstration project were launched one after another; the six ministries and commissions including the National Development and Reform Commission jointly issued the “Semiconductor Lighting Energy Conservation Industry Opinion” and the “Semiconductor "Lighting Energy Conservation Industry Planning" clearly describes the development goals, main tasks, key projects and supporting measures of China's LED industry.


Cao Jianlin pointed out that through central and local governments' policy support, subsidies, demonstration projects, etc., my country's large-scale application of semiconductor lighting products is at the forefront.


Wu Ling said that in the past decade, the government has continuously promoted the cooperation of various ministries and commissions at the macro level to create a good atmosphere for industrial development; guided technology development by application needs, driven market cultivation by application demonstration projects, and promoted the large-scale industrialization of technology; The end-of-year subsidies expand the scope of application, so that China's LED technology and industry have achieved considerable development.


At present, the scale of China's semiconductor lighting industry has increased from 9 billion yuan in 2003 to 250 billion yuan now, and there are 19 listed companies; the light efficiency of semiconductor products has increased from 20lm/w to 140lm/w, and the chip localization rate Reached 75%.


Industry challenges remain


After ten years of development, my country's LED industry has entered a fast-track development. However, prosperity and crisis are always lurking in parallel. At present, this emerging industry is still facing great challenges.


Participants believed that with the accelerated penetration of the LED market, many companies have shifted their focus to scrambling for traditional lighting channels, and even relying on low prices to compete for the market, making the product homogenization competition very serious. Some companies use cheap materials to make cheaper lamps, which are inferior. In the absence of any technical testing, some enterprises rushed into the market and blindly followed suit, forming a phenomenon of overcapacity. The industry has overheated investment in different development stages and different development links. The first two years were chips, and the two years were in the application field.


In addition, from a technical point of view, there are some technical support issues that have not been resolved, such as specifications and interfaces. Enterprises do not have enough understanding of the future development of personalized terminal products, and I do not know how to quickly keep up with the development of informatization and digitalization.


Wu Ling said that due to the controllability of LEDs, people can not only change the luminous body but also achieve a higher level of lighting effects with the help of certain technical means. This characteristic makes LED lighting provide us with unlimited imagination space, and its development speed is beyond people's imagination. In the future, under the guidance of the Internet of Things and other information technologies, microelectronic optoelectronic integration will open an era of intelligent, controllable, and digital lighting, and the value of system services will increase.


This is the development trend of LED technology in the future, but some traditional lighting companies in my country have transformed into the field of LED lighting, and they still don't understand how to keep up with the rapid development of mobile communications and the Internet of Things, and realize the intelligentization and digitization of LED lighting products. These are the problems that enterprises need to solve urgently.


Innovation drives industry upgrade


In order to explore the future development prospects of the industry and find solutions to problems, experts and scholars from the industry have made suggestions at the meeting.


Cao Jianlin pointed out that with the continuous development of science and technology, the application and integration of lighting products and optical communications, agriculture, medical treatment and other aspects will continue to deepen. We should take advantage of the innovation-driven strategy proposed by the Eighteenth National Congress, seize the opportunity of China's economic upgrading, strengthen R&D efforts, improve product quality, reduce costs, and promote industry development.


Wu Ling said at the meeting that the National Semiconductor Lighting Engineering R&D and Industry Alliance hopes to coordinate the next step of the industry's development, continue and play the spirit of starting the semiconductor lighting project ten years ago, and mobilize the participation of enterprises in major development directions of the industry Consciousness and cooperation awareness, develop and lead multi-functional, multi-field innovative applications, give full play to the advantages of semiconductor lighting, and enable the industry to embark on an innovative development path to meet future challenges.


In addition, when talking about the future work priorities of the National Semiconductor Lighting Engineering R&D and Industry Alliance, Wu Ling said that the future alliance will plan the market and strengthen consumer confidence; focus on cultivating brands and expanding sales channels; increase R&D efforts and actively promote innovation Application, actively guide and nurture the LED market in a healthy and orderly direction.
